Northern Territory Police have arrested a man who allegedly posted himself 2500 MDMA pills.

Police made the discovery on Monday at a parcel delivery service in Darwin following a tip-off, and arrested the 36-year-old after he collected the package, along with a second parcel allegedly containing 180 Viagra-alternative tablets.

Detectives believe the man had posted the parcel to himself following a recent visit to Victoria, Detective Superintendent Clint Sims said.

When police searched the man's home they found more MDMA, he said.

The joint task force operation involved officers from the Australian Federal Police, NT Police, Australian Border Force and the Australian Crime Commission.

The man was charged with several drugs offences and has been remanded in custody to appear at the Darwin Magistrates Court in February.
