NT man tried to extort woman over job

A Northern Territory woman was allegedly told "it's your money or your job" after a man helped her gain employment and wanted more money.

A Northern Territory woman was allegedly told "it's your money or your job" by a man she had already paid for preparing her resume and organising an interview.

But she refused to hand over more cash and went to police who charged him with blackmail and extortion.

The man, 28, had drafted resumes and organised job interviews for the woman and another man, both 24, for $800.

Police allege he crossed the line by telling the woman she would lose her job unless she handed over more money.

He's expected to face the Darwin Magistrates Court on May 27.
