A nurse charged with the manslaughter of a beauty clinic owner who died after a botched breast procedure has been granted bail in a Sydney court.
Chinese woman Yueqiong Fu, 29, is accused of preparing bags of anaesthetic that were allegedly administered by co-accused Jie Shao to 35-year-old salon owner Jean Huang during the breast filler procedure in August.
Ms Huang was rushed from the Chippendale clinic to hospital where she died two days later.
Fu has since been charged with manslaughter, using poison to endanger life and hindering the police investigation.
At Fu's bail hearing in the NSW Supreme Court on Thursday Detective Sergeant Mark Peebles said Ms Huang's preliminary cause of death was an overdose of lignocaine, a local anaesthetic.
He said she was also found to have high levels of the painkiller tramadol in her system.
The detective said Fu has admitted preparing bags of both drugs.
But on Friday, Justice Geoffrey Bellew said the Crown is yet to establish the cause of death, which could be lignocaine and/or tramadol and/or the breast fillers.
"It could not be said that its case against this applicant is a particularly strong one," he said when granting Fu conditional bail on a $100,000 surety.
Justice Bellew said Fu, who has lived in Sydney with her husband since 2013, has significant community ties and is not a flight risk.
Fu is to live at Campsie, not communicate with any co-offender or employees of the clinic, surrender her passport and not approach any point of international departure.
However, Fu's Australian student visa has been cancelled meaning she'll be detained at Villawood Immigration Detention Centre pending the outcome of an application to review the visa decision.
The court heard Fu recently graduated from a nursing degree at the University of Technology, Sydney but needs to pass a test in English to gain registration.
