Nurses deliver penalty rates petition

The Queensand Nurses Union is the latest health industry group around the country to campaign to protect penalty rates ahead of the federal election.

About 13,000 nurses, midwives and health workers have signed a petition to protect penalty rates for Australian workers.

Queensland Nurses Union (QNU) secretary Beth Mohle will deliver the petition to local Labor MP Terri Butler outside Princess Alexandra Hospital on Tuesday morning.

The Fair Work Commission is reviewing retail and hospitality penalty rates, with a finding set to be handed down in August or September.

The QNU petition is latest in a series of protests by health workers around the country.
