The 57 year old's appearing in the Brisbane District Court for the first day of his trial to defend five perjury charges and five counts of official corruption.
Crown Prosecutor Ross Martin told the court that while up to 31 Crown witnesses will provide evidence for the trial only eight will appear before the jury.

Some of the high profile witnesses include Queensland Premier Anna Bligh and former Queensland and NSW premiers Peter Beattie and Morris Iemma.
The trial's expected to run for less than two weeks.
