It is quicker to download an Australian webpage from New Zealand than in Sydney, a broadband monitoring company says.
NZ broadband monitors TrueNet tested the ability of Australian ADSL users to download three Australian-based websites and found they did worse than those sampled from New Zealand.
ADSL users on Kiwi internet service providers recorded scores between 0.3 and 0.4 seconds.
The small group of users based in Sydney and Melbourne averaged more than 0.5 seconds.
"Their performance downloading Australian websites (from Australia) demonstrates how far behind NZ they are, with all NZ ISPs having a far better performance for downloading the same Australian websites," TrueNet says in its October broadband report.

TrueNet monitors website download times on behalf of the NZ consumer watchdog and uses small groups in Australia and Dallas for comparison.
The Australian-based browsers use TPG as their ISP.
TPG did not respond to a request for comment.
Australia's telecommunications ombudsman this month said complaints about internet services rose 22 per cent between 2014/15 and 2015/16.
