NZ firefighters to help fight Aust blazes

Firefighters from New Zealand will help Australia battle a long and dangerous fire season.

A group of 20 New Zealand firefighters will travel to Australia to help battle another dangerous fire season.

The NZ firies will arrive early in the new year and spend two days being briefed before they begin fighting fires on January 4.

Australia's bushfire season has started earlier than usual, with homes destroyed in Victoria in October.
