A New Zealand man accused of kidnapping a 14-year-old girl in Virginia and enticing her to make child pornography faces life in the US prison system after a grand jury indicted him on multiple charges.
Troy George Skinner, 25, is accused of flying from New Zealand to the girl's home in Goochland, Virginia, in June last year.
Skinner and the girl had met online and when she attempted to end communication with him he flew from Auckland to the US and terrorised the girl and her family, authorities said.
The indictment alleges when Skinner arrived at the girl's home he unlawfully and wilfully seized and confined the minor victim and attempted to kidnap her "for ransom or another reason, and that he also used the internet in furtherance of this offence".
Skinner allegedly used the girl to produce two videos and two image files of child pornography.
He faces a mandatory minimum of 25 years in prison and a maximum of life if convicted of the kidnapping charges.
If convicted of producing child pornography, Skinner faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years and a life maximum.
