A man extradited from New Zealand to Australia has appeared in court charged with the murder of a pool builder who went missing on the Gold Coast in July.

Aaron John Crawford appeared briefly in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday, a day after being extradited over his alleged involvement in the disappearance of father-of-two Greg Dufty.

His case will next be heard alongside his co-accused, Lionel Patea, in the Southport Magistrates Court next Wednesday.

Crawford, who spoke briefly to his lawyer in court before his case was heard, also faces one charge of interfering with a corpse.

The 27-year-old was remanded in custody and is not expected to appear in court when his case is next heard.

Patea, a Gold Coast-based ex-Bandidos bikie member who was already in custody, has also been charged with murder.

Mr Dufty, 37, went missing on July 6, just days after arriving on the Gold Coast from Darwin.
