Canterbury Earthquake Appeal: phone 0800 53 00 00.

Blood Donations NZ Blood has announced that the Christchurch Blood Donor Centre will be closed until further notice. They have good supplies of blood in Christchurch and have supplies they can bring in from other centres. At this stage blood stock are fine, but if the situation changesthey will inform people via their website (www.nzblood.co.nz) or via Facebook.

Westpac is collecting donations to help those needing food, shelter and care following the Christchurch earthquake. Donate online here

The Commonwealth Bank is also collecting donations to support the Australian Red Cross New Zealand Earthquake 2011 Appeal. Donate here

Donations to the "New Zealand Red Cross 2011 Earthquake Appeal" can be made at any ANZ branch or through internet banking.

Authorities also warn against quake charity scam. Before handing over any money to the agency that has approached you, please check out whether it's been registered. New Zealand charities can be checked here.

Canterbury Earthquake site managed by Environment Canterbury providing useful information for people affected by the quake.

Healthline (24 hours): 0800 611 116. The service is staffed by registered nurses who will assess health needs of people affected by the quake.

Earthquake Commission (EQC): 0800 DAMAGE (0800 326 243) For information on EQC's insurance cover, cleaning up and making a claim.

Federated Farmers helpline: 0800 FARMING (0800 327 646) For information, advice and contacts for Canterbury farmers (weekdays 8.30am - 5pm).

Christchurch City Council customer services: 03 941 8999 For assessment of major structural damage to your home or business premises or for help with essential council services such as water supply or sewage disposal.

Business helpline: 0800 42 49 46 Information for business owners.

Christchurch International Airport: 0800 568 369 Including information about travel, tourism and accommodation.
