Obama told a TV interviewer the North Koreans have "been trying to launch missiles like this for over a decade now, and they don't seem to be real good at it".
Nevertheless, he called the failed launch on Friday an area of deep concern for the US.
He says in an interview with the Spanish-language TV network Telemundo to be broadcast on Friday evening that the US will work with other countries to "further isolate" North Korea.

The launch violates two UN Security Council resolutions, and the US says it will kill a plan to give food aid to North Korea.
