Obama's promises won't solve problems

In the response to Barack Obama's State of the Union address, Cathy McMorris Rodgers says people's lives will be harder.

US President Barack Obama's promises won't solve the nation's economic problems and will instead make people's lives harder, a Republican lawmaker warned in response to his State of the Union address.

"Tonight the president made more promises that sound good, but won't actually solve the problems facing Americans," Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers said in the Republican Party's televised response to the president on Tuesday.

Opposition Republicans will focus on creating jobs without increasing government spending, government bailouts, and red tape, she said.
