Observer state status for Palestinians at ICC

The International Criminal Court is a step closer to having the power to investigate crimes committed in the Palestinian territories.

The ICC has recognised the Palestinians as an observer state which means they're now closer to gaining membership of the war crimes tribunal.

If the Palestinian leadership ends up signing the court's founding treaty, the ICC would then have the jurisdiction to investigate war crimes.
