In February, North and South Korea fielded a combined women's ice hockey team at the Pyeongchang Winter Games and marched together at the opening ceremony.
"The OCA is looking forward to meeting with the representatives of the NOCs of Korea and DPR Korea and discussing the next step of this joint cooperation," Vinod Kumar Tiwari, OCA's Director of International and NOC Relations, said in a statement.
"It is very exciting times on the Korean Peninsula and sport is playing a major role in bringing the two Koreas together in an environment of peace and understanding."
The move comes amid warming ties between the two Koreas as relations between Pyongyang and Washington have also improved after tension last year over the North's nuclear and missile programmes.
The 18th Asian Games will be held in Jakarta and Palembang from Aug. 18 to Sept. 2.
