The financial burden has largely fallen on law enforcement agencies monitoring the occupy protests.
According to an Associated Press survey the occupy movement has already cost US taxpayers $13 million in police overtime and other municipal services.

In Boston, $575 000 has been spent in November, two per cent of the police department's overtime budget.
Boston's Mayor says it is money well spent.
"I support what they're doing for the most part and when it comes to public safety I'll use the Boston police as much as I have to but as yet we haven't had a real issue with public safety in the city of Boston," said Mayor Thomas Menino.
