Offshore patrol vessel work begins in SA

Luerssen Australia has committed to building the offshore patrol vessels on time and on budget, with the first two to be constructed in Adelaide

Work has started on Australia's new fleet of 12 offshore patrol vessels with the first steel welded at Adelaide's Osborne shipyards.

Prime contractor and designer Luerssen Australia has committed to building the OPVs on time and on budget, with the first two to be constructed in Adelaide and the rest in Perth.

"This is a momentous day both for Luerssen Australia and Australia's naval shipbuilding sector that points to a bright future," Luerssen Australia chairman Tim Wagner said.
