Oil spill causes Sydney traffic havoc

Traffic is backed up more than four kilometres following a crane breakdown and oil spill in in Sydney's north.

A crane breakdown and 100-metre oil spill has caused traffic havoc in Sydney's north.

The Transport Management Centre says the spill on Mona Vale Road near Kimbriki Road at Terrey Hills has caused westbound traffic to back up more than 4km.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the area and use Pittwater Road and Wakehurst Parkway or Warringah road instead.
