Oliveira wins dramatic Moto3 GP

Spaniard Miguel Oliveira has kept the Moto3 title race alive with a stunning grand prix win at Phillip Island on Sunday.

Red Bull KTM's Miguel Oliveira has kept his Moto3 championship hopes alive with a stunning win in an incident-packed grand prix at Phillip Island.

British Leopard Racing rider Danny Kent had the chance to clinch the Moto3 world championship on Sunday but he crashed out in a four-rider incident with 10 laps to go, leaving the Spaniard to claim a brilliant win.

"I just realised that the championship is still on," Oliveira said.

"I cannot believe it - what a crazy race.

"I'm so happy for my team - this was a great win."

Spain's Efren Vazquez (Leopard Racing Honda) and South African Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM) took the remaining podium spots in second and third respectively.

Remy Gardner, son of Australian 500cc world champion Wayne, started from 29th after crashing during qualifying.

The 17-year-old CIP Mahindra rider raced with a fractured finger but worked his way through the field to finish a career-best 10th.

Kent had a 56-point buffer between second-placed Enea Bastinini (Gresini Racing Honda) heading into the race but the Italian was knocked out of the race in the same incident that sent Kent flying over his bike's handlebars.

Oliveira moved into second place in the championship standings with the win - 40 points behind Kent with two races to go.
