BMX cyclist Melinda McLeod has made a perfect start to a year she hopes will feature her Olympic Games debut.

McLeod won round two of the national series at Nerang on the Gold Coast, a day after also taking out the opening round.

Fellow Rio Games hopeful Bodi Turner easily won the second round, making up for his disaster in Friday's final.

Turner was leading the field into the last turn, but was knocked from his bike and the race went to rising star Brandon Te Hiko.

This time Turner made sure there would be no mishaps when he dominated the final.

Turner had a breakout season last year, posting his first podium finish in the international Supercross series.

McLeod narrowly missed out on selection for the London Olympics.

The national series will continue in Cairns on January 23-24.
