KEY MOVES IN THE 2016 AFL TRADE PERIOD
WHO'S GOING
*Jaeger O'Meara (Gold Coast to Hawthorn) - The biggest deal of the AFL trade period was sealed with just minutes to spare. There was bitter dispute over the injury-prone star's value but the Hawks upped their bid and got there in the end.
*Sam Mitchell (Hawthorn to West Coast) - His move to the Eagles - in exchange for a paltry No.88 draft pick - came out of nowhere. Will play for at least a year before moving into a coaching role alongside good mate Adam Simpson.
*Jordan Lewis (Hawthorn to Melbourne) - Like Mitchell, was encouraged to consider his options by coach Alistair Clarkson and the Dees made him a three-year offer he couldn't refuse. The Hawks got cold feet but eventually relented.
*Brett Deledio (Richmond to Greater Western Sydney) - Initially had his sights set on Geelong but the Cats couldn't get the deal done. Heads to GWS in exchange for future picks and arguably makes them next year's flag favourite.
*Tom Mitchell (Sydney to Hawthorn) - The Hawks have had the gun onballer in their sights for a long time. Will be a significant addition to the new-look Hawks midfield.
*Dion Prestia (Gold Coast to Richmond) - Flagged his departure all the way back in August and eventually made it to his preferred destination. Will be a handy pick-up given star Brett Deledio's exit.
*Daniel Wells (North Melbourne to Collingwood) - The restricted free agent will add class to the Magpies midfield. A somewhat risky acquisition at 31 given his hefty three- year contract.
WHO'S STAYING
*Bryce Gibbs (Carlton) - Wanted a trade home to Adelaide for personal reasons but Carlton made it clear they wouldn't let their contracted star go without a fight. Remains to be seen how he'll go next year.
*Tom Rockliff (Brisbane) - The Lions have made no secret of their displeasure with their captain's off-field behaviour and were open to trading him but found little interest. Could yet be stripped of the leadership.
*Hamish Hartlett (Port Adelaide) - The powerful midfielder was put up as trade bait and held talks with several clubs but opted to stay. Could make for an awkward preseason at Alberton Oval.
