One dead, 2 missing after France avalanche

The search continues in the French Alps for two Dutch nationals after an avalanche killed a snowboarder.

French police are searching for two skiers after an avalanche killed a snowboarder at the French Alps ski resort of Valfrejus.

About 60 rescuers plus rescue dogs continued the search on Wednesday, the day after the avalanche struck on an off-piste sector close to the Italian border.

Police said the risk of new snow slides in the same sector remained high and the zone needed to be secured with artificially triggered avalanches before the search resumed.

The victim's body was found on Tuesday night but rescue operations were slowed down by bad weather conditions.

The three snowboarders, Dutch nationals aged between 20 and 25, were part of the same group.

Another avalanche struck the French Alps on Tuesday in the popular resort of Tignes but no casualties were reported.
