It's been a long time coming for Saten Chandraia.

The Fijian-Indian man has been in Australia for more than a decade, and is finally becoming an Australian citizen.

His wife and young daughter will be joining him on stage at Parramatta Park for the ceremony.

Last year, a record 16,500 people became citizens on Australia Day alone.

Since Australia began allowing naturalisations in 1949, more than four million people from 200 countries have taken up the opportunity to call Australia home.
