The West Australian branch of One Nation has opened nominations for all positions on its senate ticket, despite leader Pauline Hanson previously backing her only remaining senator Peter Georgiou for a second term.

One Nation state leader Colin Tincknell said the decision to open the field for the number one spot on the senate ticket was made by the party's three-person WA executive team.

"This is creating opportunity for new people," Mr Tincknell told AAP.

"It was a hard decision but we just want to open up."

Mr Tincknell said the decision would probably upset Senator Georgiou but hoped he would apply.

"If he wins again, it will be good for him.

"If we get someone even better, obviously that's a good thing for the party.

"You have to fight for what you want."

Senator Georgiou replaced his brother-in-law Rod Culleton who was disqualified as a senator after being declared a bankrupt by the Federal Court, and after the High Court found he was never eligible to have been elected due to a larceny conviction.

"We've got a robust (selection) system compared to what we had two-and-a-half years ago," Mr Tincknell said.

"The process now would not allow a guy like Rod to get through."

In June, Senator Georgiou said he assumed he would keep the top spot "but anything's possible".
