One still critical after Vic plane crash

One man is in a critical condition and another is stable after a light plane crashed at Black Range, near Stawell, in western Victoria.

One of two men involved in a light plane crash in regional Victoria is in a stable condition while his companion remains critical.

The pair's fixed-wing aircraft came down at Black Range, north of Stawell Airport, just before 1pm on Friday, leaving them with life-threatening injuries, police said.

Both were airlifted to Melbourne hospitals.

The Royal Melbourne Hospital later updated one man's condition to "stable".

The other man, also believed to be aged in his 40s, is at The Alfred hospital.
