Online prank targets Kirribilli House

A travel website has spoofed up Kirribilli House, after Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull opted to remain at his harbourside mansion.

Fancy living it up in a Prime Minister's luxury waterfront Sydney residence for a weekend?

Accommodation website, Stayz, has cheekily listed Kirribilli House as a luxurious getaway destination "fit for a King or PM".

While it has no authority to offer the property, which is owned by the Australian people, the site had no compunction about spelling out its "impressive" features.

These include a jacuzzi fit for 12, the country's fastest Wi-fi, a 48-burner barbie, ten bedrooms and as many bathrooms, and security services personnel.

Following the departure of Tony Abbott, new Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull plans to remain at his own harbourside mansion instead of moving into the property.

Mr Turnbull's office has been contacted for comment.

Stayz marketing director David Dunstan argued the "cracker" of a house should not be left empty.

"If Malcolm isn't going to use it, the Australian people should be able to go and stay there for a while," Mr Dunstan told AAP on Friday.

Mr Turnbull has said Kirribilli House would be used for official functions.

"It's very valuable, it's a great location to use for charities and for opportunities to support good causes. So we'll certainly be doing that. But we'll be sleeping at home," he told ABC TV on Monday.
