Online retail spending bounces in Aug

The NAB Online Retail Sales Index rose 0.6 per cent in August, a significant bounce from the 1.4 per cent fall recorded in July.

Online retail sales have bounced, boosted by a surge in shoppers buying toys and electronic games.

The NAB Online Retail Sales Index rose 0.6 per cent in August, a significant bounce from the 1.4 per cent fall recorded in July.

Over the year to August, the index was up seven per cent.

NAB said sales increased across most retail categories in the year to August, with the electronic toys and games category leading the way with a 27.2 per cent leap, followed by media with a 17.7 per cent gain and fashion up 11.4 per cent.
