Oosthuizen to play Perth International

South African star Louis Oosthuizen in to play in February's Perth International at Lake Karrinyup Golf Club.

South African golf star Louis Oosthuizen is to make his first professional appearance on Australian soil in the Perth International.

The 2010 British Open champion has committed to play the event at Lake Karrinyup from February 25-28.

Oosthuizen is aiming to continue some strong form from the last six months after finishing runner-up at both the US Open and the British Open, where he lost out in a three-way playoff at St Andrews four years after his major victory there.

The 33-year-old world No.17 also performed brilliantly for the International Team in the Presidents Cup clash with the United States in October, going undefeated through the week in South Korea.

He's hoping to match the success of some illustrious countrymen on the Perth International venue.

"Gary Player, Retief Goosen and Ernie Els have all won tournaments at Lake Karrinyup Country Club and hopefully I can continue their success in February," Oosthuizen said.

The fourth staging of the Perth International will be tri-sanctioned, with the European and Asian tours joining the PGA Tour of Australasia as co-hosts.
