Dominic Thiem insists he won't be feeling the pressure against 10-time French Open champion Rafael Nadal in the Roland Garros final.
The 24-year-old Austrian beat Marco Cecchinato from Italy 7-5 7-6 (12-10) 6-1 to advance to his first ever major final on Friday.
Nadal came through his semi-final against Argentina's Juan Martin del Potro and is a heavy favourite to retain his title in Paris where only two men have managed to beat him on the famous red clay.
Thiem, however, has three wins over Nadal including at this year's ATP Madrid tournament where he won in the quarter-finals with a straight-sets victory. He also beat him in Rome last season.
"If I want to beat him, I have to play that way like I did in Rome and in Madrid," said Thiem, who lost to Nadal in the 2017 French Open final four.
"He's a big favourite against everybody. Still, I know how to play against him. I have a plan. If it's going to be him on Sunday, I will try everything that my plan also going to work out a little bit here and not only in Madrid or in Rome.
"There is pressure especially in grand slam finals, because I went a very long way now and I don't want to lose the finals; otherwise, it's not a very nice feeling. But on the other hand, it's so tough to go all the way in such a tournament.
"I think if I'm facing Rafa, I'm not the one who has the pressure."
