Opera House to go green and gold for Rio

The sails of Sydney Opera House will be illuminated green and gold on Friday to mark the start of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

The Sydney Opera House's iconic white sails will light up green and gold to mark the start of the Rio Olympics.

The sails will be illuminated in the official colours of the Australian Olympic team at 5.30pm on Friday and remain lit up overnight to mark the start of the Games.

Australians can watch the Opening Ceremony from 9am on Saturday.
