Oprah prepares for Aussie stage

Television TV host Oprah Winfrey is preparing to hit the Australian stage and offer insights into life and some nuggets of wisdom.

Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey says she's looking forward to imparting some pearls of wisdom to Australian fans during her multi-city Australian tour.

The media titan arrived in Melbourne on Tuesday, inspecting the stage where she'll be talking to thousands of adoring fans on Wednesday night.

"I'm baaaaack," she joked during a rehearsal at Rod Laver Arena on Tuesday.

"The question is, where is my best light?"

The 61-year-old American billionaire and philanthropist briefly pondered her success on the other side of the world.

"Oh, I have all these friends on the other side of the world and I didn't even know it," she told the Nine Network on Tuesday.

Oprah says her intimate show will touch on the "commonalities in the growth experience that we all have", imparting some meaningful, funny and inspiring moments.

"One of the great desires and goals of my life is to be used by a power greater than myself to be able to effect and give meaning and impact other people's lives," she said.

One of her life lessons centres on self improvement.

"Just trying to be the best human being you can while you're still trying to manage your husband, your kids, your life, the world," she told Nine.

It's been five years since the TV host was in Australia.

One of the highlights from that visit, she revealed, was an encounter with a pair of mating koalas.

"I remember they were doing their thing," Oprah recalled to the Ten Network.

But it was the overwhelming response from fans during that visit that prompted her return.

"I wanted to come back because I felt the spirit of the people, not just in Melbourne, but all over this country in such a way that I'd never experienced before," she told Ten.

"I wanted to be a part of that and be a part of that in a way that I got to share myself and got to share my own stories and hopefully inspire some people."

After Melbourne, the media mogul will take her show, An Evening With Oprah, to Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane and Sydney before heading to New Zealand for the first time.
