Overnight leader Wade Ormsby has endured a disappointing second round at the BMW International, after his sizzling eight-under 64 turned heads at the Eichenried course.

The 37-year-old Adelaide golfer carded a two-over 74 on Friday to be in a tie for 11th, three behind halfway leaders Joakim Lagergren and Joel Stalter.

Compatriot Richard Green is next best of the Australian contingent with the Melburnian's one-under-par 71 leaving him in a tie for 23rd at four-under.

Brett Rumford (three under) and Jason Scrivener (one under) are the only other Australians under par in the tournament.

Lagergren and Stalter lead by one from former champions Sergio Garcia and Henrik Stenson.

Both Lagergren (66), who had eight birdies and two bogeys, and Stalter (68) are bidding for their first European Tour title.

Garcia (70) was on course for the lead but bogeys on the 14th and 17th set the Masters champion back before he finished with his fourth birdie.

Stenson, the defending champion, went one better with a 69 as he joined Garcia, Richard Bland, Rikard Karlberg and Thomas Detry at eight-under.

"I'm not on top of my game by any means but I think it was a good kind of professional fighting display," Stenson told the European Tour's official website.

"We kept it pretty tidy, anyway, and made a couple of birdies when we had the chances and didn't drop too many. You don't have to be ashamed of three under I guess around here."
