Out-of-control Qld bushfire downgraded

Fire authorities have downgraded a watch and act warning for a bushfire in Queensland's South Burnett region.

A bushfire in Queensland's South Burnett region has been downgraded but residents are urged to remain on alert.

The watch and act warning for the Teelah blaze was changed to an advice message late on Saturday night.

"You need to keep up to date and decide what actions you will take if the situation changes," the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said.

Extra crews were earlier placed on standby ahead of a forecast of strong winds amid what Emergency Services Minister Craig Crawford labelled "dry as dry" conditions.

Advice messages were in place for two fires at Monduran in the state's Bundaberg region and at Gregory River, near Childers.

Mr Crawford earlier said gusty westerly winds over the weekend were expected to cause conditions to worsen.

The areas of most concern were around Townsville, Rockhampton, Kingaroy, Ipswich, Stanthorpe and the Scenic Rim.

"They're the hot spot parts of Queensland, where we've got significant fuel loading, it's as dry as dry, and all it requires is an ignition source and it's away," Mr Crawford said.

Fire bans were in place for the Ipswich, Somerset, Lockyer, Logan, Scenic Rim and Gold Coast areas.
