Serial rapist Robert John Fardon is going back to prison after a short stint in hospital.
A Queensland Corrective Services spokesman says the notorious sex offender will be taken back to the Wolston Correctional Centre on Tuesday afternoon.
While the spokesman can't comment on Fardon's medical condition, he says medics have decided there is no reason to keep the sex offender at Princess Alexandra Hospital.
"The medical assessment has come back and they've deemed it appropriate to move him," he told AAP.
Fardon was admitted to hospital on Sunday night, two days after a brief period of freedom.

The sex offender was released from jail into supervised emergency accommodation on Friday, after Supreme Court judge Peter Lyons refused an application to delay his release.
But he was locked up again just two hours later when Queensland Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie sought to put a stay on the order in the Court of Appeal.
The appeals court adjourned the hearing to Wednesday and ordered Fardon be kept in custody until then.
Fardon has spent most of his adult life in prison for sex offences against women and girls dating back to 1967, when he was 18.
He has been serving an indefinite jail term for his crimes.
Mr Bleijie vowed to exhaust every legal avenue to keep Fardon locked up after Justice Lyons ruled last week he should be freed on a strict supervision order.
Mr Bleijie is seeking a stay on Justice Lyons's order, so Fardon will remain behind bars until after an appeal against his release has been heard.
