The city of Aleppo is the epicentre of clashes between government forces and rebels in Syria, and 468 civilians were killed there in just three weeks.

A total of 468 civilians, including 57 children and 100 women, were killed between July 31 and August 20 amid airstrikes and shelling attacks in the northern Syrian province of Aleppo, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) says.

According to SOHR, among the victims were 172 civilians killed by air raids carried out in the rebel-held eastern part of the city of Aleppo.

Some 163 people were also killed in missile attacks fired by the rebel forces on areas controlled by the government forces.

A woman and a man were killed in rebel attacks in a neighborhood in the hands of the Kurdish forces in Aleppo.

A total of 130 civilians were killed during the same period by bombardments in several areas in the west, south and north of Aleppo province.
