A Melbourne dental clinic faces legal action for allegedly underpaying an international student dentist more than $66,000.
The female student, from South Korea, was hired by the Nobrace Dental Clinic in Melbourne's CBD on a 457 skilled worker visa.
She was employed on an annual salary of $50,000, but documents show she was paid just $15 an hour and received no overtime.
The Fair Work Ombudsman alleges she was short-changed $66,945 between 2011 and 2014 and has decided to take legal action against the former owners of the clinic, Ari Masters, and his wife Christine.
The ombudsman is seeking back pay for the employee and the dental company faces fines of up to $51,000 per breach, the Fair Work Ombudsman said on Tuesday.

Fair Work Ombudsman Natalie James decided to take legal action "because of the seriousness of the alleged breaches and the involvement of a vulnerable overseas worker".
