Australian surfer Owen Wright will make his comeback from a long-term head injury at February's Maitland and Port Stephens Pro in NSW.

Australian Owen Wright will make his return to competitive surfing after recovering from a head injury and will take part in next months' world qualifying series event in the NSW Hunter region.

Wright, the brother of world women's champion Tyler, suffered head trauma competing at the Pipeline Masters in Hawaii in December 2015.

The 27-year-old Owen Wright will compete at the Maitland and Port Stephens Pro at Merewether Beach in Newcastle on February 20-26.
