P-plater charged after woman, 78, run down

A 22-year-old woman P-plater is facing a number of serious charges after she allegedly struck a 78-year-old woman pedestrian on a busy Sydney road.

An elderly woman has suffered serious arm and internal injuries when she was struck by a car driven by a P-plater on Sydney's busy Victoria Road.

The 78-year-old was crossing the road at the lights at Monash Road on Monday afternoon when she was hit. She was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital where she remains in a serious condition.

The driver, a 22-year-old woman who stopped to assist, was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and not displaying her P-plates among other offences. She was granted bail and is due to appear in Burwood Local Court on July 30.
