Pair charged after NSW police pursuit

Police have charged a man and woman who allegedly led police on a vehicle pursuit through Tamworth, before crashing their car and trying to escape.

A man and woman who allegedly led police on a vehicle pursuit in NSW's New England region, before crashing their car and trying to flee the scene will face court.

Police said the car failed to stop for highway patrol officers on Anne Street at Tamworth, about 10.15am (AEDT) on Thursday.

Officers then pursued the car through the town before it lost control, hit a medium strip, then flipped.

It's alleged the driver, a 31-year-old man, and a 25-year-old female passenger ran from the car.

Two other passengers stayed at the scene and helped officers extract a 15-year-old boy from the crashed car.

The driver and passenger were arrested a short time later.

The woman was charged with acting with intent to pervert the course of justice.

She was refused bail and will face Tamworth Local Court on Friday.

The man was charged with numerous driving offences, including police pursuit, and will face the same court also on Friday.
