Two people have been charged with manslaughter over the 2015 death of a 10-year-old boy in Brisbane's south.

Police say the 43-year-old woman and 35-year-old man were known to the boy, who was found dead at a house in Mackenzie on July 19, 2015.

The pair have been charged with manslaughter, child cruelty and interfering with a corpse and will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

The pair are believed to be the boy's aunt, who had been caring for him for eight years, and her partner.

At the time of his death his aunt had been taken to hospital for an unrelated medical condition.
