Pakistan captain Misbah suspended for Test

Misbah-ul-Haq's departure from the second Test against NZ for family reasons will co-incide with a ban that would have seen him miss the fixture anyway.

The ICC says Pakistan cricket captain Misbah-ul-Haq has been suspended for one Test match and fined 40 per cent of his match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate during the first Test against New Zealand at Christchurch.

Misbah would have missed the second Test in any case as he flew back home following the death of his father-in-law.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has already named Azhar Ali to lead Pakistan in the second Test, which starts on Friday at Hamilton.

Pakistan team players were also fined 20 percent of their match fee after they were ruled to be two overs short of their target of 103 overs at Christchurch.

Misbah had been found guilty of a minor over-rate offence during the Oval Test against England in August, his second offence within a 12-month period.

Pakistan trails the two-test series 1-0 after losing the first Test by eight wickets.
