Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has been accused of treason for suggesting his team get a warmer welcome in India.
Afridi defended his comments by saying it was an attempt to charm the media after arriving in India for the upcoming World T20.
However given the long-standing tensions between the two countries, his comments were not so welcome back in Pakistan.
"I've not enjoyed playing anywhere as much as I have in India," Afridi told reporters.
"I am at the last stage of my career and I can say that the love I have got in India is something that I will always remember.
"We've not got this much love even from Pakistan."
Afridi's comments drew so much outrage that one Pakistani lawyer even says he has served him and the chairman of the country's cricket board, Najam Sethi, with a legal notice.
"Afridi has let down the whole Pakistani nation for expressing more love for India than Pakistan," Pakistani lawyer Azhar Saddique told the Press Trust of India.
"In fact he has committed treason."
The comments also drew the ire of a shocked former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad.
"These cricketers should be ashamed of themselves for saying such a thing. Shame on you," Miandad said on the Aaj TV channel.
Pakistan's lead-up to the World T20 has been clouded by security scares, which forced their group match against India to be moved from Dharamsala to Kolkata.
