Pakistan to travel to India T20 WCup: govt

The Pakistan cricket team has been granted government approval to travel to India for next month's Twenty20 World Cup.

The Pakistani government says it will allow the country's cricket team to compete in the Twenty20 World Cup starting next month in India.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) sought government approval to travel to India and said "the permission has been given specifically" for the World Twenty20.

Pakistan have been placed in Group 2 and will play matches in Kolkata, Dharamsala and Chandigarh.

PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan said he had asked the International Cricket Council "to put in place special arrangements for the Pakistan cricket team while in India".

Pakistan will not be playing any of its matches in the state of Maharashtra to avoid protests from Hindu extremist party Shiv Sena which, in the past, has opposed India's cricketing ties with Pakistan.
