Palmer attempts to block administrators

Clive Palmer has launched a legal bid to stop administrators of his Townsville nickel refinery from appointing receivers and "dealing" with bank accounts.

Clive Palmer will have to wait until next week to learn if his latest legal bid to stop Queensland Nickel administrators from doing its job has been successful.

The businessman-turned-politician has lodged an injunction application which would block FTI Consulting from appointing receivers or "dealing" with Queensland Nickel's bank accounts.

The move would effectively put things back into the hands of Clive Mensink, Mr Palmer's nephew, who was the director of QN until it went into administration.

Mr Mensink on Wednesday told the Supreme Court in Brisbane a joint venture agreement between his uncle's companies was constructed in a way that assets and funds could be transferred to one another, all the while leaving the debt behind.

A decision on the injunction application was ultimately reserved until next week.

It is understood the lawsuit will not impact on a QN creditors meeting on Friday where they will vote on whether the company should be liquidated.
