Palmer labels Libs a 'Stalinist operation' "Ž

Mining magnate Clive Palmer has slammed the Liberal Party Federal Council meeting in Melbourne as Stalinist after it rejected a move to block paid lobbyists from joining its federal executive.

The resolution was moved by Queensland Liberal National Party president Bruce McIver and backed by Mr Palmer but enjoyed little support outside the Queensland bloc and was comprehensively voted down.

The resolutions were expected to be moved today, and Mr Palmer had barely arrived at the function centre last night when debate began.

He says he hasn't decided whether to stay for the rest of the council, which he described as a Stalinist operation where everyone gets up and hails the party leader.
