Former Penrith NSW Cup mentor Garth Brennan has promised not to go raiding the Panthers' stocks after being appointed Gold Coast NRL coach.
The Titans announced Brennan's three-year deal on Thursday replace the sacked Neil Henry after a sustained period of success at Penrith.
The Panthers' finals campaign was turned on its head last season when captain Matt Moylan stepped aside on personal leave.
Strongly linked with moves to rival Sydney clubs Cronulla and the Wests Tigers, Moylan eventually re-committed earlier this month to the Panthers.
Brennan says he gets on well with Moylan, but has no plans to raid the nest he helped to cultivate after joining the club in 2012.
"I have some close relationships with Matt Moylan and Penrith, but also a close relationship with head of football there, Phil Gould," Brennan said with a wry smile.
"I wish Penrith all the success in the world, just not when they play Gold Coast."
Brennan is yet to settle on his coaching panel, with assistants Terry Matterson and Craig Hodges waiting for a call on their futures.
But the 45-year-old former policeman said he didn't arrive with grand plans of a redesign.
"There are some good people here at the Gold Coast Titans and I'm not coming here to bring my whole staff with me," he said.
"I think the (playing) roster for 2018 is pretty good - it's just about done."
Brennan said he had a long-term plan driven by internal development and less focus on recruitment.
"It's not about one year or three years; it's about being a successful club in 10 years," he said.
"With the quality of juniors on the coast, nine locals in our top squad next year and 6000 juniors on the Gold Coast - it's exciting times.
"That's where I come from; clubs that rely on development for their first-grade players, like Newcastle and Penrith."
