Penrith star Reagan Campbell-Gillard has been urged to maintain the rage when he makes his anticipated return from injury in Sunday's NRL clash against Canberra.
Campbell-Gillard will make his first appearance since breaking his jaw in round 15 that also robbed him of finishing his maiden State of Origin series with NSW.
The Panthers prop admitted earlier this week he would be tinkering with his fearless running style following his head-on collision with Sydney Roosters enforcer Jared Waerea-Hargreaves.
But Panthers coach Anthony Griffin said the 25-year-old needed to keep doing what earned him his representative honours.
"It's a collision sport. He's a front-rower," Griffin said on Saturday.
"The reason he's been able to progress so quickly over the last couple of years has been his courage and aggression with the way he plays."
In a bid to reduce his chances of injury, Campbell-Gillard said he would look towards running in between defenders as opposed to running over them.
And Griffin believes those lessons would come with time.
"Obviously as he evolves a footballer, we'll help him with the details and technique," he said.
"But if he shies away from trying to be aggressive as a front-rower, that's not going to help him and I'm sure he won't do that."
Campbell-Gillard's return is a huge boost for the fifth-placed Panthers, who are still a major chance of moving into the top four.
They currently sit two points behind the third-placed Roosters, but two points in front of the eighth-placed Warriors with just five games remaining in the season.
Their only win over the past three weeks was a miracle escape against Manly last week.
"It was the two points we needed. We needed to get that win last week and when you win, it gives you a little bit of confidence," Griffin said.
"Our aim (is the top four). It's a really congested ladder right down to the Warriors. For us, we've got to get our job done tomorrow if we're serious about doing that."
