Paraglider dies after hitting NSW cliff

A paraglider has died after crashing into a cliff face south of Sydney, with crews also having to rescue a second person who watched the first crash.

A paraglider has been killed after taking off from a popular gliding spot south of Sydney and colliding into a cliff.

Police tried to retrieve the man since the crash at Bald Hill Lookout at Stanwell Tops just before 3pm on Saturday.

But due to poor light, the effort to recover his body will resume on Sunday, NSW Police said on Saturday evening.

"It's quite inaccessible, it's quite dangerous and we'll be losing light soon," a NSW Police spokeswoman told AAP.

AAP understands crews had also been trying to rescue a second person who had gone to the cliff to observe the first rescue.
