Two family pets are back on their paws after being rescued from a Queensland house fire and resuscitated by quick-thinking paramedics.
Seven-month-old cattle dog Holden and Chip the kitten were drowsy and smoke-affected when they were pulled from a burning two-storey duplex at Pimpama on the northern Gold Coast on Monday afternoon.
Luckily, paramedic Jennie Chesters is a former veterinarian and she used her previous expertise to help save the tiny critters.
Ms Chesters and her partner Shelly Pringle gave their furry patients oxygen for an hour before the animals were well enough to be taken to a nearby vet clinic for further treatment and observation.
"It's a really hard job sometimes and any happy ending is great," Ms Chesters told reporters on Tuesday.

"Especially for these two little ones to see how much better they were by the end was really nice."
No humans were injured in the blaze, which is now being investigated by police.
