Paramedics are exposed to confronting and disturbing sights multiple times a day. They also work long shifts at antisocial hours.

And some are cracking under the pressure. A recent Victorian study indicated that ambulance workers die by suicide at a rate twenty times higher than the general population.

Producer Ben Rylan talks to two paramedics about their experiences with depression and suicide, and the partner of a paramedic who succumbed to the trauma of her work.
