Parents warned to monitor kids online

Parents should keep a close eye on children's internet activity, police say after charging a flight attendant accused of trying to procure a young girl for sex.

Parents are being reminded to monitor their children's internet activity after police in Queensland charged an alleged child groomer following an online sting.

Flight attendant Samuel Terrence Rova, 37, is accused of trying to procure a 14-year-old girl for sex via social media, however he was communicating with an undercover detective and was charged when he arrived in Brisbane on Thursday afternoon.

The 37-year-old, who is from the Solomon Islands, was granted conditional bail on Friday and ordered to stay off social media.

Following Rova's court appearance, Acting Detective Superintendent Garry Watts said parents needed to be vigilant with children's internet activity.

"Scrutinise who they do talk to," said.

"Child sexual predators will go to extreme lengths to access and interact with children online."

Rova will stay with a cousin before returning to court on August 14.
